I guess the good thing to come out of this is that because of the lame-o submission system here, I'm planning on opening a personal site . Now I have to figure out this web 2.0 thing (I haven't coded anything in html in YEARS XP ).

I had that happen a while back with one of mine, so I hear ya on that.

The only other place I figure you could post them up is at livejournal. Create an acccount to where it's ONLY going to be for your graphics. I've done tha tand I know few of us on here do that.

I have a livejournal and I used to post them up there, but I've had problems with people stealing them one i use photobucket to host and livejournal is very restricting when it comes to layout.

I really like having comments on work so while LJ would be great for that. I'm thinking of making a Wordpress page so that way people don't have to have an account to comment. That and wordpress, while harder to make layouts for, is very liberating theme-wise.

Nah, I'm thinking of posting them on LJ in the interim. I just need to sit down and figure out how I want to do my web site.

The problem is I have to many ideas on the layout and then I never get started on them. XD

So far I have 3 ideas:
1) left aligned with Joanna portrait piece (background is a seamless pattern of the wallpaper)
2) center done in the style of ASoUE (movie cutouts)
3) Apple Coldplay Ad style with Johnny or something

I don't know which one XD

How are they copyrighted?? I mean, they are just pictures put together, people might just not like you D:

The thing is Iron Man, for example is copyrighted. So while I did produce the work (i.e. the wallpaper, which by copyright I have rights to [meaning no one can take that wallpaper and said they did it] ) the image I used (in this example Iron Man) isn't mine. The thing that makes the copyright in the grey area is that images I use (i.e., the cast photos) while, they are not my own, are freely given out by the studios in press kits to advertise the movie. While I state this in my deviation descriptions and some official sites (POTC did this years ago, but I don't think the link is up anymore after they updated it for the other films) have this disclaimer on their pages the copyright is their own.

This is the same reason why people who do fanart are technically not allowed to sell their fanart because that means they'd be making money off of someone else's copyright. The reason why my deviations get deleted (even if the images/videos are released to the public for use [as in Sweeney and Iron Man]) is, from what I gather, has something to do with the fact that while they are released to the public, there is no permission documentation (as in that handy waiver that dA asks you to fill out when posting photos of people [which is also the reason why I don't post photography mote often, its a pain to get those things signed] to cover dA's butt when studio lawyers start to get sue happy, and therefore since there is no documentation listed with my pieces they violate the copyright rules of dA.

It sucks, but its the rules and dA has to cover their own butts. My only peeve with it is that they don't enforce it. Years ago they got rid of the anime wallpapers section because of the same problem but they let people upload Official wallpapers (as in the official Sweeney Todd wallpaper I saw back in December) and other wallpapers with the same infringement. If they deleted the anime wallpapers section for copyright infringement, I don't see why we have a movie, female, or male wallpapers section either.

But no worries after my final tomorrow I'll be working on an official site to house all my work and I'll just dA (via screenshots or scraps section) to tell my watchers of updates.
